Star Bar and Bungalows

We were very unhappy with our stay. A hotel worker offered to arrange a surfing lesson, and we agreed on the price beforehand. Later, the staff member tried to charge us more. The lesson itself was a disaster: the instructor took us somewhere with no waves, and the surfboards were badly damaged and injured us severely. We raised it with management and were initially promised a partial refund, but nothing was refunded and the hotel stopped replying to our messages.

Great food, super friendly people, and a really helpful team. They can rent you snorkels and bikes, and helped us with transport and recommendations.

The staff made our stay memorable. They greeted us by name with smiles and did everything they could to be kind and make us happy. The bungalows, restaurant, pool, beachfront and sea access were all amazing. Our bungalow was clean and fresh when we arrived, with plenty of room and a partly open-air bathroom. The bed was ridiculously comfy and the bath towel was large and clean. Pool towels were available too. Breakfast was free, with simple choices. I had banana pancakes and fresh fruit each day because they were so tasty. Watching the sunrise while eating there was a great feeling. It’s a calm, quiet hotel and a great place to snorkel and swim with turtles. I’ve been backpacking around Asia as a couple for over five months, so here are a few things that could improve the stay. Our bungalow had no hangers in the wardrobe, bin, or small table and chairs. I knew there wasn’t a kettle or fridge in the room, but those, plus a few small bottles of water on arrival, would make things more comfortable. The restaurant is being made over, so the bar area looks bare right now. More welcoming signs and a menu stand outside the main building and by the beachfront would help show that both areas belong to the same business. We’d stay again in a heartbeat. 😁

The beach just in front of the hotel is amazing, a little quieter and great for sunsets and sunrises, with turtles right there if you’re a turtle fan. The staff were friendly and helpful with all my questions. I also had an amazing BBQ night with fresh fish from the grill. I’d go to Star Bungalows again anytime. 😎✌️
