Turtle Bungalow

The staff were such kind, generous, and friendly people. The room was fine, the bed was great, and the pillows smelled fresh and good. Bathroom water is cold salt water, but in the everyday heat it felt refreshing. You can rent bikes, and it’s a four-minute walk to the beach and Barbour, or ten minutes to the other beach for sunset. There are lots of funny, friendly cats, and it’s very quiet. For the price, I recommend it to anyone wanting a good local island experience. Don’t pick it if you’re after a fancy all-inclusive stay. 100% recommend.

Breakfast was included, with a choice of pancakes and fruit or toast and eggs, plus a drink. The staff also gave us tips about things to do and where to see the most turtles. We could rent good-quality snorkels and fins here at a fair price. When we arrived, we were greeted by loads of friendly cats, which was definitely a bonus. My friend and I had a great stay in the bungalows. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated, with a mosquito net, though we didn’t need it since the rooms were very airtight. As long as you shut the main and bathroom doors, you shouldn’t have any issues. The bathrooms are simple and use salt water, though I heard that’s common on the island. The location was great too, about five minutes’ walk from the port and ten minutes from sunset beach.

We found the owner nice whenever we came in, and he gave us information about things to do. There were lots of kitties around, too. The little bungalows are basic but cheap, with a mosquito net and a simple breakfast included. The bathroom uses salt water, as do most places on the island.

We hadn’t booked here originally. We had reserved two rooms months ahead at Noby cottages behind Gili Meno turtles, but when we arrived, nobody was around and only one room was available. After a lot of time and trouble, the guy at Gili Meno Turtles was told we’d stay here and our friends would stay at Noby. We were relieved to have a solution, but then had problems with the man running this place. He was rude and seemed not to care. Even though we were all under one booking, they wouldn’t let us have breakfast together and split our group of four up. The breakfast was awful: soggy, mushy pancakes and dry, overcooked eggs. The owner barely grunted at us, and we felt unwelcome. The showers and taps were salt water, which left us feeling awful after showering and made our hands sticky. There was no filter or anything. The room was nicely decorated, which was the only good thing.
