The bungalow was a lovely place to stay. We had tea and coffee in the rooms and the air con worked really well. Hiring bikes made getting around the island easy. Restaurants and bars were a 15-minute walk away or five minutes by bike.

The room was clean, the staff were friendly, and they gave us free water. There was a TV, but only Netflix, YouTube, and similar services, no regular channels. Several things didn’t work well. The AC only blew air even though it was set to 17c, apparently because it had no freon gas. The door was noisy and difficult to lock, and there was no warm water in the evening. The mosque could be heard loudly in the morning, and the beach took a long walk to reach. Breakfast had been included when we booked, but on arrival there was nobody to cook it. The outdoor chairs and table were shared, with only two chairs and one table, so we had to wait for others to finish using them.
The sweetest part of our stay was Simba, the lovely cat who lives at the apartment. The rooms were cozy, comfortable, clean, and well looked after. The AC ran quietly, and the warm shower came with shampoo and hair conditioner. The staff were wonderful, always calm, smiling, and happy to help. It was also a great place to sleep: we couldn’t hear the mosque’s prayer calls, or could barely hear them.
Bale Datu Bungalows felt like a great choice for the price, and I’d happily return. I stayed at a resort elsewhere in Gili T after checking out, and regretted not extending my time at Bale Datu instead. I didn’t take any photos, just wanted to leave a good review. The service was friendly and accommodating, the rooms were clean, and the mattress and pillows were super comfortable. There’s a small, clean pool right outside the rooms, a clean shared kitchen, and the location is good, not far from the main road. Rooms have a smart TV with Netflix and YouTube, hot and cold showers, towels, tea, coffee, and refillable water. An adorable, chubby ginger cat wanders around and loves being petted. There might be a few little critters on the floors, but they’re harmless and understandable with trees around the area. 10/10!
The owners and staff were the friendliest people we met, and they made us feel like family. My wife and I spent hours outside on our first night laughing and chatting with everyone. We loved our two-night stop on the island and every minute of the stay. The rooms were really clean, the TVs were brand new and had Netflix, and the pool was brilliant in the hot weather. If we come back to Gili T, I wouldn’t hesitate to book here again.
