Gili Escape Bungalows

Ronnie was easily the best part of our stay. He was kind, helpful, understanding, accommodating, and around whenever we needed something. I hope we see him again next time. The place is peaceful and quiet, and Warung Biq Seni nearby was another highlight. The food was tasty, fast, and affordable, so we ate there for most meals. We also loved the snorkel trip. The rooms were basic but affordable. No hot water or TV, and the shower smelled like rotten eggs, though it was fine after a swim in the ocean. The AC cooled well, the outlets and WiFi worked, and the bed was comfortable, though the pillows were a little flat. Some photos and older reviews are out of date: there was no pool, and bikes are no longer free to rent. You may want to rent a bike for 50k at the harbor and keep it for your stay, since you'll need it to get here and back to the main area.

The place has potential, but it clearly hasn't been looked after. When we arrived for our 3-night booking, the receptionist couldn't find our name on the guest list. Staff had only just cleaned the room, and it was still VERY dirty. I thought I'd manage one night and find somewhere else the next day, but seeing the room changed my mind. I booked another hotel and moved straight away. I've never been so disgusted by a place to stay. It needs a full renovation before taking more guests.

We wanted a good holiday, so we turned around and found another place near the beach. The road around here was extremely dirty after rain, the room was smaller, old, and dirty compared with the photos, and check-in wasn't at 11.00 as Agoda stated. The staff seemed to pretend they couldn't speak English. Stay away.

The breakfast was really tasty, and they brought me coffee or tea whenever I wanted, even during the day. The bungalow was clean and had AC. Of the two darker bungalows and one lighter one, they let us choose when we arrived. We picked the darker one because it was a little more open, and that worked better for me since the AC feels too strong. After two weeks in indonesia, bali, nusa and lombok, this was finally somewhere I could relax. I booked two days and added three more. Rick and Rooney made me feel so welcome that leaving was hard. I really recommend it.
