Indigo Bungalows

Andri made us delicious breakfasts and was so helpful with bikes, boat trips, and laundry. The pool was lovely, and our spacious, comfortable air-conditioned room looked right out onto it. Indigo Bungalows felt peaceful and secluded, yet it was only a few minutes’ walk from all the action on Gili T. We had a fabulous stay, and it was great value. Thanks so much to Jools for hosting. Can’t wait to come back!

The place is far enough from other establishments to stay really quiet, but still close to the main attractions. Andri, the hotel’s amazing host, lifted everyone’s spirits by welcoming us with a smile and a tray of freshly cooked breakfast. The whole stay felt very cozy, and Andri provided lots of extra amenities.

We strongly advise against staying here. The staff, including the manager, seemed completely disengaged, were often impolite, and offered little help. The place was dirty, with cobwebs on the walls and rubbish around and in the pool. Rubbish was also often burned nearby, which was a real nuisance. We were charged the same Booking price for two types of rooms, bungalows and two rooms in the main building. We believed we had booked a bungalow, but on arrival it was occupied and we were put in a much lower-standard room. The owner was in the UK. We tried to contact him, but got no offer to fix the problem or compensate us. The next day, despite telling staff we’d be out for activities and available after 1 a.m., we got an urgent call from the owner and were made to return to the hotel straight away. There were also money and transport problems. Staff tried to charge us twice the price for the bikes, apparently because we’d settled directly with the owner due to not having cash. When we asked for help getting to the ferry terminal, an employee assured us the fare would be fixed at 50k. It turned out to be twice that, and we weren’t prepared for it because we had no cash.

The place has a cosy, intimate feel since there are only a few rooms, and it’s well placed for the beach at turtle point and Gili’s main town area. It’s far enough from the mosque that we weren’t woken up, though we could still hear it. We had a really relaxing six-night stay at Indigo Bungalows. Andri was great about answering questions and helping however he could. Breakfast was included, which was a nice touch. Our room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and there was plenty of storage for clothes and other things.
