Gili Villas

We love this place! The villa is gorgeous, and the staff are so helpful. It’s in a great spot close to everything on Gili T. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

I’m writing this with a lot of bitterness. What should have been a great holiday turned into a nightmare, and neither Booking nor the landlord has helped us. Right after check-in, we jumped into the pool and noticed lots of little white stones. We thought they might be part of the design, but after swimming my face became irritated and my hair turned sticky, dry, and impossible to brush. My two sisters and my mum had the same problem after showering. They were so stressed they couldn’t even run their hands through their hair and started crying. I called Rahma, the property concierge, and asked her to send the pool concierge because it was clear something was badly wrong with the chlorine and pH. When he saw the amount of chlorine, he was shocked and said there was no need to test because there was far too much. I still asked him to test it. The results were far beyond the regulations, as the photos show. The chlorine concentration was above regulation 4, marked orange, with an ideal level of 1. The pH was way below regulation 4, while the ideal is 7.6. A hairdresser told us the chlorine had stripped all the natural oil from our skin and hair. He advised us to avoid pools and the sea for a few months and said we needed proper skin and hair care. I contacted the landlord about possible compensation or help putting things right, but haven’t heard back. I think it would only be fair for my family and me to get a proper appointment for hairdressing and skincare. I’m not trying to take anyone’s money, just reach a fair and honest agreement. Neither Booking nor the landlord has helped us with this, which I find outrageous.

It’s a lovely place to stay, and the staff are really nice. I felt relaxed throughout. The location works well too, about a three-minute walk from the harbour, close to the restaurants and bars, but still quiet enough to unwind. I heard the prayer calls, but they weren’t loud at all. I don’t think the complaints about them are justified. When visiting another country, you should expect different customs and culture. Even if I had been woken up, that wouldn’t be a reason for me to lower my rating.

Loved this place. If you want privacy on Gili T, it’s a great choice. There’s a heated private pool, cozy beds, a large kitchen with all amenities, a big dining area, and a roomy seating space with a home theater system. The nighttime lighting is beautiful, breakfast is good, and housekeeping comes daily. They also have 24hr security with CCTV camera. So many things are included for such a low budget, and the staff are really friendly. Keep it up, gili villas 😍👍
