Guava Garden

We had a great time in the villa with my daughter. The kitchen had everything for cooking, if you wanted to make your own meals, and the rooms were well equipped. Since it’s Gili, everything is nearby, and the staff were always ready to help.

The pool was lovely and the property was kept in good shape. I spent five nights here, and the staff checked in each day, said good morning and good night, and made sure I had beach towels. When the internet had problems, they did their best to sort them out. I’d pick this place again if I return to Gili Trawangan.

The front desk said there were no rooms available when I asked to move, even though I could see several empty rooms ready for guests. That summed up the lack of help I experienced at Guava Garden in Gili T. The bed was uncomfortable, the pillows were hard and bulky, and staff said they had no softer option. The AC barely cooled the room. They insisted it was new, but there was also a large rotating fan in there, which made me think they knew it wasn't working well. Breakfast choices were very limited and not worth the price. The property is beside a mosque, and the loudspeaker prayers disturbed my sleep, especially early in the morning. This was a terrible stay, with uncomfortable rooms and no willingness to address my concerns. I wouldn’t recommend it, especially given the money and hassle.

The pool was cool and very well cared for, and our room was clean. We stayed three nights, and as a light sleeper I only heard the call to prayer once. The chickens are loud, though that isn’t the hotel’s fault. They do try to make guests comfortable, with a note in the room and earplugs. The staff went above and beyond, breakfast was delicious, and we had a lovely stay. I’d happily return to Guava Garden.
