Kuno Villas

We only got to stay one night for my birthday, but it was unforgettable. The villa had its own pool, and the garden and pool area were perfect for relaxing. The room was spacious, and the air conditioning was quiet but powerful. I loved the open air bathroom, especially the fish pond. They surprised me with a free upgrade when we checked in, and everyone was incredibly kind. There was a mix up with the breakfast we ordered to our room through WhatsApp, but they sorted it out quickly and the food was delicious. The area was quiet and away from Gili T's party scene. Thanks to Riyan for arranging everything, and Fiesty for being such an epic receptionist.

We were close enough to Turtle Point beach, but tucked away from the main hub, so it was quiet. The west side of the island also has great bars and restaurants. The room was comfortable and beautifully decorated, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast and coffee were great. Snorkelling is a must here, we already saw three sea turtles!

Our reservation at Kuno Villas Gili was for 23-26 January, but extreme weather made travel to the Gili Islands officially forbidden. The harbor was closed and boats weren't running. We were eight people, children included, and even with all our luggage we tried twice, on separate days, to get to the island. It was completely impossible, a situation outside our control and confirmed by local authorities. The property still refused to refund us and showed no flexibility or understanding. Booking.com couldn't resolve it either. It's deeply disappointing that they kept the full payment when guests physically couldn't reach the island because travel was restricted. We have the port closure announcements, our communications, and other proof that travel wasn't possible. After this, I can't recommend the property, especially for families or anyone who might face weather related cancellations. If you book, be ready to lose your money even in a force majeure situation.

The hospitality was friendly and attentive, and breakfast was excellent, a lovely way to start the day. I also loved how carefully planned everything felt. The rooms were among the most beautiful I've stayed in in Indonesia, with thoughtful details throughout, and the bathrooms were especially unusual and impressive. The whole stay felt comfortable and special. I'd highly recommend it.
