Little Elephant Cottage

My lady and I spent more than two weeks at little elephant homestay, and had the best time. The family were so supportive, and we relaxed in our lovely, clean, cosy room and the wonderful garden. Among palm trees, bananas, and flowers, close to the beach, it felt like the best place to stay on Gili Trawangan. Thanks for these great days. We’ll definitely come again.

I wanted somewhere affordable, reasonably close to the dock, but not too near the mosque because of the prayers at certain times. Little Elephant worked out well. One of the hosts speaks English, which made communication easier. The small yard is cute, with a few two-storey wooden houses around it. We had a first-floor room, and the cats came over to our balcony for some lovely interactions. I’m not sure if they live there or are strays, but they’re all very cute.

The family who run Little Elephant Inn were lovely and helpful, with good tips on places to visit and eat. We enjoyed the adorable pet kittens, and the bathroom and shower were surprisingly spacious. It was a cosy, comfortable stay. A couple of things to know: the steps up to the rooms are quite high, over a foot, which could be hard for some people. The shower water was only lukewarm while we were there, and the nearby mosque can be loud at certain times of day. Even with those drawbacks, the family’s warmth made the stay enjoyable.

We stayed three nights at Little Elephant and loved it. The hosts were so polite and friendly, and made us feel welcome. Our room was clean, comfortable, and superb. For what we paid, it felt like heaven on earth, and it’s one of the best places to stay in gili trawangan.
