Ricel Homestay

I booked a week here around New Year’s three months ahead. A week before the stay, they messaged to say they were cancelling because of renovations, and they did cancel it. That excuse sounds like BS when they’re still taking bookings for the same dates at six times the price I paid in advance. Booking.com should shut businesses like this down. I complained, but nothing was done. They’re fishing for more money and don’t care if they ruin someone’s trip.

The room was spotless and cozy, and felt like a little home. The homestay is right in the heart of town, so cafés, markets, and beaches are easy to reach on foot. Hedi and his team welcomed us like old friends and were always smiling and ready to help. Hedi found us hidden gems around the island, great deals on GoPro rentals, and arranged a magical horseback. He also got us good prices on bikes that were in great shape. Compared with places like Ricel, this is the better choice if you want to get out and see the island instead of staying indoors. We’ve just finished four nights here, and Hedi and the team made the trip special. Huge thanks!

You get good value for the price: roomy, clean rooms with AC and a nice little terrace. The two guys managing the place are really kind and friendly. They can arrange laundry and rent bikes, and a simple breakfast is included, which was a nice touch. Bathroom was clean and the shower hot. Water pressure is very low, though, but at this price, what can you expect?

My hotel didn’t offer bike rentals, so they walked me around the corner, about 30 meters, to this place. For 50k a day I got a newer, nice single-speed bike with a combination-lock cable. Comfortable and practical for the island. Recommended.
