The jungle scenery is stunning, and there’s a lovely river for swimming and watching wildlife. The restaurant food was delicious too. We spent four nights here and did a two-night jungle trek, which was excellent. The team met us in town and guided us to the accommodation, then helped arrange tours. It’s tucked away about a 20-minute drive from Bukit Lawang, reachable by scooter or a 40-60 minute walk, but well worth getting there. The rooms are comfortable, the bed is good, and the balconies are great for relaxing.

The people made this experience unforgettable. Bayu welcomed us, explained everything clearly, and made us comfortable right away. The village crew were always smiling, energetic, and fun to be around. Special thanks to our jungle guides, Holanda and Ali. They were capable and professional, kept us feeling safe, and made us laugh. They treated us like we belonged, and it was lovely seeing their connection to nature as they shared it with us. We spotted lots of animals in their natural habitat during our two days and one night in the jungle. We also rode mountain bikes through nearby villages, where the locals were incredibly welcoming, rafted on a traditional local boat, and explored the Bat Cave. We’ll remember this tour for a lifetime and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic jungle experience with wonderful guides.

The meal we made was incredibly tasty, full of Indonesian spices and flavors. I’d recommend this class to anyone curious about the region’s food. We started by picking fresh ingredients ourselves in the beautiful garden, which was a great way to see where they grow. Then we learned to prepare traditional local dishes, with recipes and lots of explanations about Indonesian cuisine and culture. Everyone was very nice, and the class was both informative and fun. I also noticed that the owner had taken in several boys and girls from a bad relationship and was teaching them many things to help give them a better future. It was an unforgettable day!

The river was so refreshing for a swim, and it was lovely to relax there and see what wildlife we could spot. The lodge sits on the jungle's edge, with beautiful views of the jungle-covered mountains. The staff were incredibly welcoming and made us feel like part of the jungle family. Berry and Donny guided our jungle trek, and we’ll miss them. The restaurant food was tasty, and the beds were really comfortable. What a place!

Batu Kapal is deeper in the jungle and is only accessible by motorbike. The staff were flexible and took us up and down to town whenever we wanted. We didn’t need or expect the rides, but tipped them a little each time. The staff were amazing, and the food was great. We saw so many orangutans with them, even on the trip to the bat cave, though I think we were lucky. I’d definitely recommend staying here.
