Cemara Hotel

This rundown hotel was disgusting. There were stains on the side of the bed and all over the carpets. The water pressure was poor, and there was no hot water. It's being used as an isolation hotel and charges 2 million rupiah a night. The government is forcing foreigners to pay that extremely high price to stay here. Shame on the government and the hotel owner!

Breakfast was good, and the room itself was in good condition. The room and hallway are a little narrower than they should be, especially for a family with a husband, wife, and children. What surprised me was that paying the room rate in cash cost 30% more than the Agoda price.

It's centrally located and somewhat better than IBIS Arcadia. Breakfast was okay, though I noticed hair on the buffet table at least a couple of times. The rooms are dark, and the music they play can get annoying. I also have doubts about how well the no-smoking rules are enforced, since during my week-long stay I could smell cigars from the nearby smoker's lounge. I'd give it a B.

For the price, the room was bigger than I expected, and it even had a bathtub. But the unfriendly male and female receptionists are what I'll remember. They greeted me without smiling and looked annoyed, whatever app I booked through or what room I'd chosen. Check-in and check-out were genuinely awful. They don't need huge smiles, but please, just smile. Gosh.
