Fieris Izzy Hotel

I picked this place mainly because it was conveniently close to my work event, and I was optimistic after reading it had recently been renovated. The breakfast came to the room every morning in generous portions, though it didn't taste very good. I was surprised to find that every room seemed to be a smoking room. Don't be fooled by the option to select smoking or non-smoking, the air smelled of cigarette smoke everywhere. Staff tried using ozone in my room, but the polluted smell was still noticeable. This place seems meant only for smokers. 🚬 There was hair all over the bathroom sink when I went in. It made me wonder if the room had been properly cleaned at all. 🤮

The room itself was fine, with a big-screen TV, and the staff were humble and smiled a lot. At first I was enjoying my stay. I booked two nights so I could go to TPI Jaktim for my passport appointment at 8 and an interview at 11 AM. That interview mattered a lot, and I had prepared everything. During the interview, with the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door, housekeeping still knocked and shouted “roomservice!” I didn't answer because I was trying to concentrate and not get distracted. Then the phone rang beside my laptop on the left, and I panicked. I went straight into “fight” mode. It was devastating, and the atmosphere completely changed. The sign means Jangan Ganggu. Hotels should respect it, whatever their star rating. I know staff follow SOP and maybe someone simply missed the sign. I wanted to support this hotel and leave a good review, and I really had been trying to stay positive. But a human mistake like that could jeopardize an interview that determines someone's life. My room was also next to the staff room, where people kept throwing things nonstop while I was trying to sleep. It was very loud. I was still processing the shock, so it bothered me less, but anyone sensitive to noise could find it stressful. Maybe this isn't a place to rest peacefully or do something important like an interview. I'm sorry to leave this review. I'd hoped to make a good core memory of doing the most important interview of my life here, but now the experience is traumatizing. I didn't enjoy the stay at all. I know the staff work hard, but the noise, knocking, and unexpected call ruined what I expected to be a memorable stay.

If you're a non-smoker, be warned: the rooms have no windows and smoking is allowed, so there's a good chance yours will smell bad. Staff may try to clear the odor, but it doesn't go away, and even your clothes can end up smelling. The walls also let through quite a bit of noise. I chose this new hotel because it was closest to the hospital. Everything still looks new and nice, especially for the price, and the location is convenient with plenty of restaurants nearby. Given that it's new and cheap, I'd still give it three stars.

The hotel is in a handy spot, with plenty of places to eat nearby and a pharmacy. Staff were friendly, and both the room and toilets were clean and comfortable. Facilities were adequate, with lifts and emergency stairs. The room has Google TV, though you'll need your own Netflix account.
