Right in central Jakarta, this is an apartment.
The location is fairly strategic, but that's about the only upside. The building looks neglected, the roads are damaged, and I can't see where the IPL money is going. Parking is chaotic, with no spaces available at night. Power cuts happen often and drag on, like out in the countryside. The elevator feels like a hysteria ride, and you have to call it when you enter. Internet access is monopolized, so no other provider is allowed. You have to go through apartment management, and the connection is slow and marked up. With the budget, you'd be better off going next door.
As a tenant at Menteng Square, I want to share my experience for people considering living here. The motorcycle parking gets chaotic, with bikes parked across from each other and many locked by their handlebars, so getting in and out can be hard. Elevators are often being serviced, sometimes leaving just one working, which makes moving around slow. The electricity supply is low, so it doesn't suit lots of electronic devices. I take many photos in my unit and wanted more power, but my landlord wouldn't allow an upgrade. There's very little space to dry clothes, just a small spot on the balcony, and the laundry service on the second floor has damaged, faded, or stained my clothes several times. It also tends to be expensive, at 10,000 Rupiah/kg. Cleanliness is very poor. The glass by the elevators is sticky and dull, and hasn't been cleaned since I moved in. The facilities are also in bad shape. In Tower C's motorcycle parking area, there's a brittle hole in a rectangular iron pipe that still hasn't been repaired. Power outages are quite frequent and disrupt daily life. Tenants pay more for parking than owners, and if you need a domicile certificate for administration such as BPJS, only owners can use this apartment address. I find it uncomfortable for families. Even a two-bedroom unit feels cramped. With the rather high IPL, I don't think the service and facilities match the cost. There also isn't popular Wi-Fi here unless you use the apartment's own service. I hope this helps others weighing a stay here. I'd suggest finding another apartment or renting a room.
The neighborhood feels peaceful for everyday living, and the units are neat and clean with a modern look. Menteng Square Apartment has 24-hour security, parking, and a shared space to relax. It's also easy to reach, near the city center, offices, and public facilities. A comfortable, well-located place to live in central Jakarta.
They showed up at noon, when it was quiet, and told me their break would end at 1:00. Why should a package take an hour to be delivered? They ought to have two handlers so they can take turns resting.
