Hotel Alia Heritage Pasar Baru

The staff were friendly, and breakfast was decent enough to fill us up. JIS is only 9 km away, so the hotel can work if you're here for a concert, though traffic can make the trip take up to an hour. It was affordable, and we weren't expecting luxury, but basic things like ventilation, working air conditioning, and clean water really needed more attention. Convenience was the only reason we booked. If you have other options, I'd strongly suggest staying elsewhere. We picked it because it was the designated pickup spot for our concert bus, the most convenient choice for us. The lobby looked nice when we arrived, so we expected better rooms. Ours was cramped, damp, and had no ventilation. There was just one outlet in a twin room for two people. The AC started leaking on the first night. We told staff, but they said they couldn't fix it until the next day because it was late. By the following evening it still hadn't been fixed, and housekeeping hadn't cleaned the room. After another day of leaking and another complaint, they moved us. The AC in that room had broken blades. We gave up and slept through the night since we were leaving the next day. The water felt very slimy from both the shower and sink, as if soap was still on our skin. We used bottled water to wash our faces and brush our teeth. Friends in other rooms had the same problem, so it wasn't limited to our room. There was no iron or hairdryer in the room. Not having a hairdryer was understandable, but there were only two irons for the whole building, not even one per floor. We were there during a sold-out concert period and never got to use one. The receptionist said they had lost track of the irons and didn't know which room one was in. That was a frustrating setup for a fully booked hotel.

The room was old, but everything worked properly, and the service was really nice. It's an affordable place in the middle of a busy city, within walking distance of Halte Transjakarta and near Monas, Istiqlal, Katedral, and Posbloc.

The building's pretty old, and the elevator really needs an upgrade. It's so small, and the noises it makes while running are seriously creepy. Still, the room and sheets were clean, and there's a smart TV 🩷
