Hotel Golden Tulip Essential PIK2 Jakarta

The sea breeze around PIK2 was a lovely surprise on my first overnight business trip here. The room and bathroom were small but cozy, and I could still move around comfortably at 192 cm and 95 kg. There was no in-room phone, but they use WhatsApp for requests, which was fine. Bianca greeted me in the lobby and was very polite and helpful. Finding breakfast took a little looking since the signs weren't very clear. The food selection was fine and tasted fairly good, though hot noodles would have been perfect on those chilly mornings. I didn't get to check out the nearby mini mall, but I enjoyed my first stay and plan to come back. Management, keep up the good work.

I spent my birthday here and wasn't looking for anything big, just a simple birthday greeting when they checked my ID. Instead, the male receptionist gave me a sour look. The service felt uneven too. He didn't show me or several other guests to the lift, just pointed and said to go right, while I saw staff escorting guests with two-bedroom rooms all the way to the elevators. A lift guide should be standard for everyone. There are no bellboys. The female receptionists, at least, were smiling and fluent in Mandarin. One of them met me in person and called me “Mr.”, but the TV in my room displayed my name as “Mrs.” For a room advertised at nearly 1,000k a night, it was odd there was no phone, and the receptionist ignored my messages. The hotel is part of ARTOTEL, which makes this property a shame for the brand. I got an Agoda deal for around IDR 500k per night with breakfast. Agoda's regular rate that day was 750k, while the official website listed almost 1,000k. At 500k, it's very good value, especially with free parking in an exclusive area under the K tower, while the hotel is under the I tower. At 750k, it's still decent for the strategic location. At 1,000k, a room this small isn't worth it. I'd add 300k-400k to stay at the Mercure PIK Avenue for better hospitality and a proper room. The male receptionist triple-checked my booking and insisted breakfast wasn't included, even though my Agoda app clearly said “WITH BREAKFAST.” Housekeeping came daily, but the cleaning was poorly done. They kept their outdoor shoes on and didn't mop the floor or change into clean indoor sandals, so they tracked dirt in from the hall. Other details were awkward too: there was no bin in the bathroom, and the room's bin was beside the head of the bed. The parking foyer air conditioning was hot. There are two foyers, one by the lobby and one on the parking floor. They also asked for a five-star review before we could check in, which felt extremely unprofessional. Ignore my fake TripAdvisor review. Two women did stand out positively. The young receptionist on the afternoon of May 24, wearing a navy polo and possibly an intern or trainee because the others had different uniforms, was wonderful. Gina or Rina at The Windmill Restaurant was a breath of fresh air during the breakfast rush. She stepped in to help while other restaurant staff looked away or ignored the tables.

I was in town for a business trip and an expo at NICE - PIK 2, Jakarta. The hotel is about 10 minutes from NICE and 30 minutes from the airport, but getting to central Jakarta takes over an hour, especially with traffic. There are Studio and Family room types. The Studio is very small, so I chose the Family Room, with two rooms, one queen bed, one single bed, and a tiny living room. It cost less than $10 more than the Studio, so I was glad I went with it.

The rooms were neat and clean, and worked really well for my extended family. We were comfortable throughout our stay, and the friendly, welcoming front desk staff made a great first impression. At Windmill Restaurant, the Tom Yum was delicious and the Corn Crab Soup was appetizing. Al Mudrik handled our orders excellently, with impressive product knowledge even though he's a bartender. Ferry also kept a close eye on what we needed while dining. It was a memorable visit, and I'll definitely return when I'm near Golden Tulip. Kudos to the whole team, please keep up the great service.
