Kemang Icon Hotel

The dinner I had was good, and the staff were friendly. The hotel itself, though, felt more like a one or two star place than a five star one. It may have been nice 20 years ago, but it has declined a lot. My room had dirty floors and bathroom, plus a grimy, broken floor towel. The air conditioning was so loud even on quiet mode that I couldn't use it at night. At the bar, cocktails listed on the menu weren't available at all, and wine was sold only by the bottle. I declined breakfast when asked, then got woken up by a call at 7:45 the next morning asking if I wanted it because it was included. I can't believe I paid 1 300 000 IDR for this. I could get an okay hotel in Europe for that money.

I had to cut my stay short and leave early because the conditions had become unacceptable. This was especially sad for me, since I'd stayed here for over a month before, brought team members along, sometimes booked as many as four rooms, and always used to choose this hotel first. It once felt like a second home. On this latest visit, the room had ants in the bed and mosquitoes everywhere, and it clearly hadn't been maintained properly. The air conditioning didn't work, so I slept with just a fan. I was told it had been fixed when it plainly hadn't, which made me feel my concerns were being brushed off. Staff offered to move me, and I appreciated the effort, but the problems were widespread and the changes didn't help. Hygiene at the restaurant was troubling too. The cutlery and glasses were dirty, and there was hair on the fruit plate served to us. Across the property, it looks as if little or nothing has been maintained or improved since my previous visit. The staff seem to be trying, but don't have the support they need from the owners or management. The hotel has potential, and I hope the owners take this seriously. I have photos of these issues and am willing to share them publicly if anyone questions whether this account is accurate.

The staff were heartfelt and wonderful with their service, but the building has become run-down and that took away from our stay. The windows weren't properly fixed, as the attached photo shows, and we had a few mosquitoes in the room. It needs renovation, but there hasn't been investment in a long time.

Really liked this place, especially the rooftop view. Recommended hotel.
