OYO 148 Cempaka Place Residence

The building looked damaged, with water coming through holes, and felt really unsanitary. I also couldn’t match the room to its Agoda description. The photos seemed to be from somewhere else or possibly AI made. Our booked room was no longer available, so they put us in one without AC. It was unbearably hot and humid, with mold everywhere, and the smell nearly made me throw up when I opened the door. This was the first time I decided not to stay somewhere, and I made that decision right then. I can’t understand the good reviews on Maps and Agoda. Maybe ours was the only room in that condition, but they shouldn’t accept bookings for it and should close it because it didn’t seem safe. The man apparently told my wife in Indonesian, which I don’t understand, that he was sorry but couldn’t do anything about our refund. I’m still trying to get it.

The sheets and room were dirty, and the staff were easily the worst I’ve encountered in Indonesia. Sorry, but the whole stay was horrible.

For a one night stay, it was generally good. Check-in was quick and easy, though there’s no elevator. I had to pay a Rp 100.000 deposit, which was returned after checkout. The room was a decent size, and it’s easy to find the place. It’s near the TransJakarta PS Cempaka Putih bus stop, restaurants, and food stalls selling things like fried rice, bakso, mie ayam and nasi uduk. But the toilet door in my room was broken and wouldn’t close. The room wasn’t clean enough for me, and with my allergies and sensitivity to dust, I couldn’t sleep in the middle of the night. Please keep improving the service and quality.

It’s in a very convenient spot, near Yarsi Medical Faculty, ACE hardware and a traditional market, and the price is very competitive. My room smelled like lots of people had been smoking in it. That was the only downside for me, but if you’re sensitive to smoke, you should look elsewhere.
