RedDoorz near Pasar Tanah Abang

It's really just somewhere to sleep, especially if you'll be out doing things during the day. The building is among old houses, down a narrow street that's a bit hard to get through. Better to walk or come by motorbike or bicycle, which you can park inside. The staff are young, maybe teenagers, and didn't seem very responsive to guests. There's a small coffee shop on the second floor of the three-story building. It looks nice and open, and you can smoke there, though I didn't go in. My room was about 3 by 2.5 meters, fairly spacious, but had no window. It had standard furniture, a TV, AC, and a good bathroom with ventilation and decent water. The service was standard. The room looked clean but wasn't really: there was dirt and rubbish under the spring bed and spiderwebs on the wall. The keyhole in the door was broken, so the lock was useless, and I put a chair beside the door. Maybe I was just unlucky. There's a serious lack of maintenance. Like I said, it's only for sleeping.

We booked this hotel because the reception was supposed to be open 24 hours, since we were arriving in Jakarta at 2 a.m. I tried calling to check, both by phone and through Booking, but nobody answered. When we got there at night, the receptionist said the hotel was full and there was no room for us. After we argued with them, they offered us a room around 4 a.m. because some guests were leaving. They said they'd clean it before we went in, but it was done so quickly that the room smelled of cigarettes. There were actually cigarettes smoked in the toilet, and they hadn't even changed the sheets. After I left this review on Booking, they replied that we'd never been there. Liars, dirty and dishonest. DO NOT GO THERE. YOU'D BE BETTER OFF SLEEPING AT THE AIRPORT.

The facilities were provided as advertised, and the stay was comfortable overall. The toilet in my room did need cleaning, since it had a yellow stain.

The room smelled bad and wasn’t clean. There was tissue under and behind the bed, and the sheets were dirty. The hot water wasn’t hot, either. When I asked reception at 1:00 pm about checking out, they refused and said they would charge me. I’ve stayed at hotels around the world, and this was the first time one turned down that request.
