Sofyan Hotel Cut Meutia

The breakfast didn't taste good, and my room had a bad smell, maybe coming from the toilet. I switched on the exhaust, but it still smelled. I was assigned room 354 on the third floor, near the end of the corridor. It wasn't ready around 2.30, so the woman at reception on duty on 1 Jan around 2-3PM asked me to wait. I was fine waiting in the lobby, but nearly 30 minutes passed with no update. When I asked a different staff member, he said the room was ready, but nobody had told me. The woman on duty at reception that afternoon didn't handle the check-in well.

The bedding made a miserable night: the bed was flat and uncomfortable, and the flat, stained pillows were so bad I covered them with my own cotton cloth. I couldn't sleep through the night. The bathroom was in poor condition too, with an extremely dirty drain and a rubber mat that I assume is there so they don't have to scrub the floor every day. The bedroom felt dirty and humid, with a spooky atmosphere. Breakfast was disappointing and not worth the per-person price. From the roadside and the pictures, the hotel looks clean and legendary, but inside it's old-fashioned and poorly cared for. Spending vacation money here felt like a waste.

I spent about a week at Sofyan Hotel and had a very pleasant stay. The location was convenient, and the hotel felt calm and well organized. My room was comfortable and clean, which made it relaxing. Staff were welcoming, professional, and ready to help. I especially appreciated how quickly and positively management responded to customer requests.

The people were nice, but they couldn't fix problems or even manage basic cleaning. I stayed a week and only extended after four days because I was too lazy to move. The first room looked untouched after the previous guest, and the whole third floor smelled awful, like sewage. It had a wall right behind the window, which wouldn't open. After I complained, they moved me upstairs the next day, but the internet in that room was so weak it caused lots of trouble with my calls. In the second room, after three days I had to ask for toilet paper, tissues, and clean towels. The dirty towels I'd left on the floor were put back on my bed. I've stayed at many hotels in Indonesia, and this was the dirtiest. The mosque across the street was extremely loud during the 4 a.m. morning prayer, and earplugs didn't help. Breakfast was nearly gone before 8 a.m. and wasn't worth the price. Honestly, it wasn't good.
