A good base if you're meeting people in Kunigan and want to avoid traffic jams. Blue Birds taxis are easy to find. There's a Subway, Starbucks, grocery supermarket, Penang Bistro Resto, and other places next to the hotel. Marriot, Ritz Carlton, Lotte Mall, and One Satrio are within walking distance. Take care crossing the roads, although most drivers and riders slow down when they see pedestrians. I stayed in a clean, spacious one-room apartment with an attached study and sofa. The kitchen was well equipped, and the bathroom had a washing machine with detergent. The bedroom had lotsa clothes hangers, and the TV systems and remotes were good. Breakfast was okay, a simple, decent meal. Housekeeping was punctual. Staff were polite, including Ms Rullya, who was courteous and helpful.

A friendly guy, Mr Puji manages the well-maintained gym and gives helpful tips. The rooms are huge, and the central location makes this one of the good places to stay in Jakarta, especially for a long stay. Breakfast has limited options.

On my first day here, it took four tries to get the half-boiled egg right at breakfast. The first three were hard-boiled, even though this is a standard international egg station item. I had to call the chef, who talked about five-minute and seven-minute versions instead of just getting the result right. In the end it was fine, but it took extra effort and spoiled the moment. I attached a picture of the egg the cook made, which wasn't half-boiled.

The central location and service apartments make this a great hotel. What stood out most was the whole team's dedicated, welcoming service. Thanks to Ade Apriyani, the housekeeping team, and the front desk for making me feel at home at Oakwood.
