Horison Inn Relat Jayapura

For someone traveling on a backpacker budget, I found this a better deal than Horison. The hotel had been closed for more than 4 years and reopened around June 2021 after a lot of renovation. I'd gladly stay again in Jayapura. I really enjoyed it, and this is an honest review from a satisfied guest. Hope it helps travelers find a good place, since a lot of hotels here are expensive for what you get. The main drawback is the location. It's outside the city center, though that also means a break from the busy road. The area is known as Jayapura Bronx, or 'Vietnam' to locals, because fishermen used bomb methods like those in Vietnam. It's also known for drug dealers, including mariyuana. Local guys nearby are often rude and drunk, so it can feel moderately dangerous. At night, it's better to stay inside the hotel and get a pickup to the main road. You can use gojek or a nearby local ojek, or ask reception to find a decent ojek. The room was 18 Sqm, about 3m x 6m, with a King Koil Bed, bathtub with hotwater, hairdryer, 42' inch Smart TV with Disney Plus, a big wardrobe, Safety Box, 2 Oriental Kimonos, refrigerator, snacks, two chairs and a table, and a large mirror with a minimalist makeup table. There was fast ± 4Mbps UL/DL WiFi and ambient lighting. It also has a restaurant, Meeting Room and Minimarket. Some rooms have a sea and hill view. Cleanliness was 9/10, and the friendly, helpful 24h staff were 9/10. One night I had trouble with the AC and hot water. Engineering came to help, and when it still wasn't fixed, they offered me another room. I appreciated that. I don't know if this review will roast the price, lol, but the hotel did a great job and the service was good. The price felt very reasonable for what you get. The hotel is described as the best 3 star hotel in North Jayapura.
