Bali Ubud Harmony

I kept adding nights to my reservation because I had such a nice stay at Harmony. The room was large and clean, the bed really comfy, and mine faced greenery just as I’d hoped. The AC worked very well, and having a water fountain right in the room was a perfect touch. Staff were kind and always greeted me with a sincere smile. The pool is smaller than it looks in the photos, but still good for cooling off. Bring earplugs if roosters waking you at 5am would bother you.

My balcony looked out onto nature, and it was very quiet at night. The rooms were cleaned every day, and the service was prompt and kind. Wayan even picked up some milk for me.

We booked three nights, but left after a frightening first night. Around midnight, the power went out on our floor only. It seemed strange, and we tried calling the owner several times and looking for help on site, without reaching anyone. We had an early tour planned and asked them to help restore the electricity. As it got late and the three of us women felt unsafe, we moved to another hotel. The next day, they messaged to say they had mistaken us for another guest and that, after hours, no one could come fix the power. That explanation was understandable. The poor communication wasn’t, especially when they later seemed to change the story as we tried to get a refund. They said we left for a private matter, that there hadn’t really been a power outage despite our repeated attempts to reach them, and that we had cancelled without a reason. It left us wondering how they could cancel our booking online while we were asking for help, yet not contact us about the outage. The workers who checked us in were a lovely family, and we don’t blame them. The owner seemed to be managing the place without enough awareness and could have sent someone or handled things better. For a convenient place with good communication, I wouldn’t choose this hotel.

I’ve stayed in endless Airbnbs across four continents, and this has been my best travel experience. I’m thinking of extending my trip here for a month because the owners are kind and the location is great. After reading earlier reviews, I wanted to share what happened during my stay so readers can judge for themselves. I can say from my own experience that the negative reviews are fake. Other guests I’ve met here, from Russia and elsewhere, have said similar things when we socialize. They helped me navigate the airport and get to the hotel very late at night. With my schedule, I would have struggled without that support. Others offer something similar, but this place did it much better, and I won’t hire anyone else on my next trip. The AC works great, and they’ve helped with everything I need, from laundry to getting me to class at a school. One day I had no money, but the owner trusted me to pay later as promised. They could have cheated me several times and did the opposite. Compared with other hosts in Bali, I love this one. The location is perfect for reaching town on foot, from the Post Office to the best restaurants down a private alley. I wake up to a beautiful pool and birds, don’t hear my French neighbors, and have enjoyed affordable home-cooked food. They rent scooters and arrange tours well. My room is spotless whenever I return, and I’ve had no electricity problems. Ask for Ana, his English is very good, and he’s always finding ways to save me money in town. It’s been better than my stays in Tulum Mexico, London, Bavaria and Amsterdam. Good luck, happy travels, friends.
