We couldn’t even order food because a private event was taking place. To make matters worse, the bathroom light wouldn’t turn off, so we had to sleep with it on. The place was dirty, dirty, dirty. They don’t seem to understand even the basics of hospitality.

The only things I remember fondly are the two in-room meals I ordered, a Vegetarian Pizza and a Club Sandwich. Both were excellent. I was literally the only guest during my one-night stay, which made the weak service even more surprising. Staff need basic hotel and service training, especially at reception. Some were friendly, but others just played on their phones in the restaurant. There was hardly any English spoken, and no one seemed to manage simple greetings like welcoming guests or saying hello. The hotel suited my immediate need to stay overnight before heading to the harbour for the Express ferry to Karimun Jawa Island. The rooms are basic but okay, though the bathroom needs a makeover. The pool area, with two pools, looked okay. There’s a large construction site for a second building next door, a little noisy but not too much. They didn’t mention it during booking, though I believe hotels with stars are obliged under international law to disclose that in advance. It’s out in farmland, with nothing around except cows. Alfred Mart supermarket is 500 metres away and opens from 10am onwards. The harbour is 6km away, and Grab is available.

The price felt very fair, even cheap for what you get, and it’s a good option for big groups since there’s also a private villa with its own pool. The villa we stayed in was one of the best around, with a nice beach, a large room that looked recently renovated, and very clean rooms and facilities. Hot water worked properly, and there were nice pools for both children and adults.

The family room was spacious and clean, with King Koil mattresses, and it was comfortable for a big family like mine. The hospitality was great. Breakfast was the same each day, but room service had better options, try pizza or sup iga. Sadly, our room didn’t have a sea or pool view, and there’s no private beach, though you can still access the beach. It was a nice experience.
