The pool is nice, though there’s no shade, so bring sunscreen for the direct sun. The hotel is fairly dated and could use maintenance and facility upgrades. I found the price reasonable, but there are trade-offs: the Superior rooms get little natural light, the windows don’t open, and the air feels stuffy and humid. The AC is noisy too, so light sleepers may want earplugs.

A big rat in the pool filter was the last straw for me. The pool area was dirty, with rust everywhere, and the view from the pool was just a mess behind the hotel. The rooftop gym was solid by hotel standards, but don’t expect much if you’re planning a proper workout. My room faced the inside of the hotel, so with the curtains closed for privacy I couldn’t tell what the weather was like, and it was hard to wake up. The shower was filthy, and the toilet didn’t work properly. Wi-Fi was extremely slow. Breakfast was a letdown too. I ate there once and found basically nothing healthy: no eggs, ham, or muesli, just things like chicken wings and fried noodles. The receptionist spoke so quietly I couldn’t understand anything, and the main waiter didn’t speak English and seemed like he’d only been working as a waiter for two days. This was a disaster of a stay. If you’re from Europe, trust me, this isn’t a four-star hotel. We might just have higher standards. I’d pay the extra 10-20€ a night for a five-star hotel.

The staff made us feel so welcome, and one of the waitresses even helped return my husband’s wallet. He’d lost it at Beachwalk shopping mall and thought it had been stolen. We were really distressed, but one night when I went out to smoke, a waitress asked whether he’d lost a wallet. She showed it to me, I checked it was his, and we were both so grateful. I’ll remember the lovely staff. We came in January 25, and the humidity was intense, but the room was nice and the air conditioning saved us. The hotel was the best part of our Bali trip. We’d planned a honeymoon, but Kuta was the wrong city for us. It was unpleasant, with loads of drunk tourists, and the hotel felt like a refuge. The restaurant food was delicious, though the servings weren’t big enough for our appetites. Breakfast was fresh and tasty, with lots to choose from, and my husband and I ate plenty each morning. He especially liked that there weren’t too many European options, since he prefers Asian food for breakfast. I loved the guava juice. The hotel is beside a very busy street, so nights were always loud and I couldn’t sleep without earplugs. We’d hoped to swim in the rooftop infinity pools, but they were always closed because of the weather, which was sad. I don’t think we’ll return to Kuta, but I’ll always remember the staff fondly.

For one night, it was decent. The pool was nice, and the staff were really kind, but the room was dark and not as clean as I’d have liked. The third-floor Wi-Fi was slow on my laptop, and the gym was just okay. It’s fine for a night or two, but I wouldn’t stay longer.

We stayed for two nights with the kids, and it was a fair, reasonably priced experience. The staff were caring, and room service was good and prompt. The airport is about 30 minutes away. Breakfast was acceptable, but cleanliness could be better. There were cockroaches in the washroom, and cleanliness really needs attention.
