Istana Hypso

The breakfast is divine, and while it costs a little more than eating at the outdoor restaurants, it was worth paying extra. We also loved the comfortable room and fabulous open-air bathroom. The pool was clear, and we saw it being cleaned several times. Their cat and dog are adorable and caused no trouble. Such a lovely little retreat from the chaos, we can’t recommend staying here enough. Book it!

The owner and his wife, Frederic and Mia, were funny, kind, helpful, and strict in a friendly way. Hypso and Istana, the little dog and cat, are lovely too. The room and pool were clean, the location was good, and breakfast was filling and tasty. They also rent good new bikes at a fair price. My wife and I have stayed twice already, first for two nights and then for a week. If we come back to Uluwatu, we’ll choose them for a third visit. Treat people with respect and life gets easier and better :)

There are five bungalows here, and the staff are lovely and helpful. Breakfast is almost too much, with tea, pancakes, omelette, fruit, yoghurt and more. It isn’t right by the beach, so you’ll need a car or scooter to get to other parts of Bali.
