Villa Puri Royan Jimbaran by ZUZU

The courtyard is beautiful, with a nice place to sit, and the beach is only a minute or two away. It’s also close to the airport, but we didn’t hear any planes. At sunset, we really enjoyed eating at one of the many beachfront restaurants. I’m so glad we came, and I miss it a lot. The rooms are big and the price is great. The quality is fair, though some fixtures are old and it wasn’t spotless. We could see the hotel next door arranging flowers for guests when the yellow tree was in bloom. I don’t think the stories about staff breaking into rooms and taking money are true. As far as I could tell, they didn’t even come in to clean. Just don’t leave a pile of cash in your suitcase; use common sense.

The beach is a one-minute walk away, with seafood cafés along the shore for sunset meals. There’s also a fish market about 10 minutes away on foot. The bungalows have kitchens, so fresh seafood is an option if that’s your thing. The hotel is around a 10-minute drive from the airport in Jimbaran. You can see planes taking off and landing, but somehow don’t hear them. We stayed February 1st to 10th and had a solid experience. The place was clean and well maintained, with recent renovations in most, though not all, areas. The pool is big and good for a lazy day. For a booking, I’d pick bungalow 04 or 03 since they’ve been renovated. Bungalow 03 has its own pool and costs a bit more. We were fine without it, with the ocean so close.

We slept really well in the comfortable beds after a long flight. The staff were lovely, the neighborhood felt easygoing, and there are nearby restaurants with good prices. It’s also handy for the airport, though we didn’t hear the planes. The hotel and rooms looked a little worn overall, but renovations were going on while we were there. For what you pay, it’s a good hotel.

The pool and breakfast were good, and the stay felt like fair value. My husband, who needs gluten-free options, could only have fruit and a one-egg omelette, so more choices would have helped. We were on the second floor and could see the ocean and sunset from our balcony. The room itself was quite old, with both doors, the bathroom, and the walls needing repairs. The linen and towels also seemed a bit old or dirty.
