The grounds are in a nice setting, and the lake must have looked great when the place first opened. Now the water is murky and smells bad, the rusty rails and overgrown plants make walking around hazardous, and there are aggressive stray dogs roaming around. The location is also far from amenities, so even a small shop on site would help. The rooms are a mess: dirty toilet, dirty sheets, no TV, and a shower floor covered in slimy grime. The aircon isn't cold, and insects get into the facility. I’d gladly pay three or four times as much for working AC, clean rooms, and some effort to keep insects out. The dirt cheap price might mean there’s no upkeep budget, but that’s no excuse for a business. Avoid it. The place has potential to be really nice if someone with the right mindset takes it over.

I came here only to catch the ferry to Sebesi island near Krakatau, which leaves once a day at around 2pm. The place feels cut off from the world in southern Sumatra, a 30-minute motorbike ride from Bakauheni seaport. I arrived there by ferry from Merak, West Java. It’s in a remote part of a small village, a bit isolated, though they offer a motorbike for getting around nearby Kalianda, a fishing village. The view is good, the room is quite large, and the people were very friendly and willing to help. The bathroom is poor, with no hot water, a leaking shower, outdated ceramics, and almost no light. For one night it was okay, a cheap place to stay.

The shower is tiny, and they don't provide the usual soap or shampoo. The AC doesn't work, and the fridge doesn't either; it's full of ants.
