The room was filthy, with stained carpets and dirty linens. It looked like housekeeping hadn't cleaned it properly before we arrived. Staff were extremely rude and unhelpful, and I felt unwelcome the whole time. We were advertised a Queen Bed, but my husband and I were given a BUNK BED room. When I told the front desk, they said it was the only room left because foreigners were staying for three days. LoL, the most ridiculous reason I've heard. It felt like foreigners were being favored. Literally THE WORST home stay around here. If you're traveling to the area, please listen and DO NOT stay here.

They kept making loud noise, so I couldn't rest. The staff were extremely rude and unhelpful, and made me feel unwelcome for the whole stay. We had been promised a Queen Bed, but my husband and I got a BUNK BED room. When I told the front desk, they said it was the only room left because foreigners were staying for three days. LoL, that's the funniest reason I've ever heard. There is favoritism for foreigners.

The garden makes this homestay a peaceful place to unwind, and it stays quiet even though it's close to the station and port. The staff are welcoming, and there's a nice selection of food and drinks. The shower was a little broken and only had cold water, which seems fairly common in Indonesia. Still, I found the stay charming and convenient. Puri Made 2 Homestay is in Ketapang, Java, about 300m from the main railway station and 500m from the port, which worked well for my trip to or from Bali and as a base before or after hiking Ijen. It's a serene, budget-friendly place to rest while exploring East Java.
