JavaLO Villa Lombok

The villa was much cleaner than I expected, and even during November's rainy season we were comfortable. It’s close to the airport, and staying there turned out to be a wonderful experience. The owners and staff were very kind, with thoughtful touches throughout, and they welcomed us warmly while we waited. We left early, but they provided lunch and tea. Insect repellent and long sleeves and pants may help with the insects and geckos. If you’re lucky, a cat might even sleep with you. It’s a villa worth experiencing at least once.

The building is beautiful, but it seems like it hasn't been cared for in years. The floor was so dirty that I could feel grit rolling under my feet, and the walls and furniture looked like they hadn't been dusted in ages. The bed wasn't a king, maybe a double, and it wasn't a mattress I recognized. It was thick but hard. There were plates of food scattered around the garden. The place felt more like your uncle's old, dirty house than a business. The rooms also didn't feel secure: the padlock could only be locked from outside, and the doors between rooms could be opened.

The accommodation is breathtaking, and someone in the family is a master woodcarver. The family running it were incredibly kind and helpful, and the whole experience lifted our spirits. We were there with our three children and had a fantastic time. Gifts were available at good prices, and card payment was possible. We also had a delicious dinner at the restaurant next door.
