Village Corner Homestay

My friend and I stayed for just over a month because the price was good and the location suited us. The rooms were what we expected, but genuinely clean and super comfortable. Fresh linen every 5-6 days worked perfectly for us. You can rent a bike and easily get to the surrounding beaches, and Kuta is about 5/10 minutes away. The drive up goes through a small community, and the road isn’t great while construction continues. Still, it’s scenic and fun, and the views and peace at the top make it worth it. The owner was genuine and very helpful, and made us a really good breakfast every day. I check negative reviews first too, and I think the low ratings here come from people who didn’t research what they were booking. If you’re expecting a 5* Hilton type of stay in a developing country, this isn’t for you. For an easy, comfortable stay with nice staff and some peace, I’d absolutely recommend it. Thanks for having us.

Sahrun was a great host and helped with everything we needed. He made one of the best breakfasts we’ve had in Southeast Asia. Getting around here calls for a scooter, and they’re cheap to rent. We had a great stay and will definitely return.

I hate leaving a review like this, but I don’t feel I have another choice. My boyfriend and I thought the accommodation seemed okay at first. Then we checked the bed and found a gross mattress, and there were termites in the room. We put up with it because there weren’t many other options. We cleaned away the dirt they left, but within a few hours all their tunnels had appeared again. The room was full of them, and we couldn’t put our things anywhere except on the ground or on wood, which are the worst places. We asked the owner if we could see another room. He laughed because we’d already spent one night there and said it was strange we were only telling him then. He was really mean, and after a while he even threatened us. In the end, we had to leave the building at 2 o’clock at night, and he took all our cash. Do not go here.

The hosts were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was amazing. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and renting a motorbike was very good value. The homestay sits on top of a hill, away from noise, so it’s much more relaxing than the center of Kuta. Genuinely one of the best homestays I’ve stayed at during my three months traveling in Southeast Asia, and great value for money.
