Soori Bali

Soori Bali is a place to withdraw, find stillness, and reset. It’s not a conventional luxury resort, and that’s exactly what makes it work for us. We’d put it among the best places we’ve stayed, especially for an end-of-year retreat or an intentional pause. A place to exhale, and we’re looking forward to coming back. The hotel sits on Bali’s rugged west coast, away from the traffic and visual noise of the south. You get open skies, waves, and a feeling of being removed from time. The beach is raw and powerful rather than swimmable, which seems deliberate. This is built for reflection and retreat, not activities or spectacle. It won’t suit anyone after swimming beaches, nightlife, or constant stimulation, but for quiet, privacy, architectural restraint, and a real reset, it sets a high bar. We were upgraded to an Ocean View Villa, which we were very grateful for. The villas feel modern, calm, and private without being cold, and the indoor-outdoor layout works smoothly. There’s room to disappear into your own space. It makes sense that many guests barely leave their villas. Soori encourages you to withdraw instead of putting on a show. Service was warm, discreet, and perceptive. Staff knew when to help and when to give us space. Nothing felt overly rehearsed or polished. We appreciated the chance to receive a blessing at Tanah Lot, an experience usually reserved for priests and locals. It felt meaningful, not transactional. We arranged our own day trip to Jatiluwih, and the hotel organized Wayan to drive us. We highly recommend him. Dining focuses on good ingredients and balance, without much fuss. Even in shared spaces, the mood stayed calm, with people coexisting rather than making a social display. If you want theatrics, Keiyo, their very personal teppanyaki restaurant, is perched on the cliff with panoramic views.
