Apple Suite Apartment

We've stayed at Apple heaps of times because the price, position, and amenities suit us. I previously mentioned that the rooms could use a lick of paint and some maintenance to bring them up to scratch. The upstairs rooms are in better condition, and we had another convenient stay. The cable TV was good, better than mine, the air con worked well, and the beds were firm.

There’s plenty of room here, and the toilet was comfortable, about an 8/10. The main room was just so-so. It’s a three-star hotel in Bali, set somewhere not too crowded but still in a strategic spot. Staff were helpful, though there’s no guard at the gate around the clock. I’d put the service at 7/10 and the stay overall at 8/10.

The room was mostly clean, the air conditioner worked well, and breakfast is brought over from a local restaurant each morning, though it doesn’t arrive before 9am. Beyond those pluses, you can see why it’s cheap. The place needs maintenance, and the photos make it look nicer than it is. Staff are often nowhere to be seen, and the Wi-Fi is patchy for both signal and speed. Check-in was confusing too: with nobody at reception, I had to go inside, call out, and hope someone heard. Apple Suites doesn’t show up on Grab, although other Apple properties do, so I’d enter the address of the restaurant next door if using the app.

I told the staff about the problem, and they refunded me in cash and helped arrange another hotel. I really appreciate their kindness, so I’m adding two stars for that. The villa grounds were okay and the bed was fine, but the room itself was nothing like the photos on here, Booking, or Agoda. I paid for a superior room and ended up in a strange, dated space with an ugly table and a strong smell from chemicals. I asked them to remove the chemicals because, for the first time in my life, I had an allergic reaction and found it hard to breathe. I couldn’t open the window because of geckos, mosquitoes, and the like, and there was also a strong beer smell coming from the fridge.
