Don't be taken in by the pictures. Our stay at Taulan social hideout was deeply disappointing, and I'd urge travelers to avoid it. We booked a private pool villa, but lizards and geckos were everywhere, making loud, constant noises through the night. It was nearly impossible to sleep. Anyone with a phobia or trauma involving these creatures could find it a nightmare. The villa was also close to the main road, with little soundproofing, so traffic kept disturbing us too. Together, the road noise and gecko sounds made this one of our worst nights' sleep while traveling. A good night's rest is the last thing you want to lose on holiday. When we complained about the noise and lizards, staff moved us to a garden villa. They still refused to refund the price difference, even though the new accommodation was a downgrade. The front desk staff were dismissive and seemed poorly trained, and their unwillingness to help made things even more frustrating. The online descriptions and photos suggest luxury and peace, but that wasn't our experience. The room condition and stay didn't justify the high price. It was awful, and there are plenty of better places in Bali where you can relax without the pests, constant noise, or unhelpful staff.

The road noise was really disturbing because our room was close to it. The open-ceiling bathroom also felt a bit awkward when using the toilet. And be careful walking along the road, motorcycles pass very close. The design, though, was really nice and made for good photos. The romantic interior seemed just right, including the open bathroom and bathtub. There are also some nice restaurants within walking distance.

We stayed for 3 nights, and I definitely wouldn't recommend this hotel. After we left, the manager got my girlfriend's number from an order she had placed with the hotel restaurant using her phone, then messaged her from his personal phone and asked her to hang out at Taulan hotel. The message was abusive. This is harassment, and it made the hotel feel unsafe. How could this happen? No hotel or anyone should treat guests like that. You should be ashamed.

We only booked one night, but I'd definitely come back. The place had a really chilled vibe, with tropical gardens and beautiful landscaping. The pool was well kept, the venue was clean, and the staff were lovely. The room had a classic tropical, Balinese design.

The restaurant has a lovely space with a swimming pool and a playground for kids. The villas were comfortable and nicely located, though street noise came through sometimes.
