ZEN Rooms Seminyak Umalas

We left after just 30 minutes. The staff were all friendly and nice, but the rooms were nowhere near an acceptable standard. The floors felt sticky and dusty, mold was growing everywhere, and the bedsheets had stains and hard spots. The bathroom was literally falling apart, as was every wooden piece. Probably the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at.

The pool might be the only thing worth it, though it’s nothing special. The bedrooms were decent, but the kitchen was unpleasant, and the hotel’s outside areas and hallways were visibly decaying. Inside, the rooms were run down, the bathroom was falling apart and outdated, and the towels were stained and didn’t look clean. There wasn’t even a bathroom floor mat. Definitely one of the worst “hotels” we’ve stayed in. Would not recommend.

I knew within half an hour that I needed to leave immediately. I wish I’d checked Google reviews before booking three nights. The whole place was in horrible condition apart from the pool area, which was fine but not great. The toilet, shower, sink, sofa, kitchenette, bedding, closet, doors, curtains, AC, and everything else in the room seemed quite disgusting and run down. It looked as though covid had hit them hard and they’d done no maintenance since. The staff offered to move me to another room or clean mine again, but I knew I had to leave. Thankfully, the receptionist understood and agreed to refund two of the three nights. I still had to spend time calling and explaining the situation to agoda CS before they could refund me. Stay away from this place!

The rooms are spacious and the amenities comfortable, and the staff are friendly. Umalas Hotel is in a good location and could be a decent short-stay option if you can put up with a few inconveniences. The hallways are dark and can feel unwelcoming, and the lift didn’t work, which is especially awkward with heavy luggage. Better lighting and working facilities would make the experience much better.
