Villa Harmony - Bali Residence

We ended up leaving halfway through our stay for somewhere else. The price was raised after we’d already booked, and there were problems throughout: neither toilet flushed when we arrived. A worker removed the lid and told us to flush by hand, but the upstairs toilet stayed broken, so our friends had to come downstairs to use ours. The outside fridge didn’t get cold, and the outdoor sink had no hot water, making it hard to wash dishes or baby bottles properly when travelling with kids. The air conditioning worked, and some of the staff were nice. That was about the only upside.

The lack of 24/7 security was another problem, despite it being listed as available. We also had money stolen by cleaners while they were cleaning our villa; the villa next door had the same experience. This stay completely ruined a holiday we’d been looking forward to, and I would never recommend the villa. It was in poor condition and dirty. Every toilet was broken, one leaked sewage across the bathroom, and two bathrooms had ants. A drain smelled so strongly of sewage that the odor reached the bedroom. The wifi didn’t work either.

Getting around was difficult because of heavy traffic, so we had to rely on taxis. My family group of 13 left disappointed. The villa itself was satisfactory, though its amenities felt basic. Towels were often missing, either bath or face towels, and we had to ask for them daily. Pool towels were never there unless requested, and their arrival depended on the laundry. When it was delayed, we waited until 6 PM. Rain also caused a bathroom leak. The coffee and tea setup had a gas kettle that took a long time to boil.

We were five in the family, and the private pool became a favorite for both morning swims and evening dips. The villa was roomy and clean, with a peaceful, charming feel that made it easy to relax together. Staff were friendly and accommodating, responding when we occasionally asked for towels or pool items and doing their best to help. It’s in a quieter spot away from the busy city, though during peak hours a taxi is the better way to get around. We liked the traditional touches, including the gas kettle, even if it takes some getting used to when you expect full hotel-style amenities. It suited us as a relaxed, home-style stay in a local setting.
