Villa La Luvier

We’ve returned to this villa with friends and still find it a lovely place to stay in Bali. It’s roomy, with five cozy bedrooms and a big pool, and the staff are warm and helpful. There are a few signs of age compared with my visit in 2022, though it hasn’t lost its charm. Cafe del Mar, a large supermarket, and the heart of Canggu are close by. Canggu is pretty spread out, so “close” depends on where you’re headed, but we enjoy coming back here.

This villa has become a second home for me, and the staff feel like family. My first trip was with friends, and I’ve come back several times since. I always plan to return when I’m in Bali. The welcome started at the airport, where our driver met us. Walking in past the lovely lighting, Balinese music, and the bridge over the Koi pond was breathtaking. The outdoor area opened up beyond it, and the pool looked so inviting that I was floating in it within minutes, looking up at the stars. The rooms are all spacious and en suite, with very comfortable beds. Dharma and Ria were friendly and helpful. After a busy day at the beach, they even arranged for a beautician to come to the villa for an evening pedicure. Breakfast was tasty and made with fresh ingredients. The villa was spotless, and fresh towels were always available. There’s a good supermarket, salon/spa, and chemist within walking distance, and you can get food delivered with the Gojek app. I use a wheelchair, and although my sister, who also uses one, hasn’t joined me on these stays, I noticed two large downstairs bedrooms that seem well suited to wheelchair users. The entrance to the main area, downstairs bedrooms, and indoor living space is level. There’s a small ledge to the pool area and shallow end, plus curved, gradual steps for getting into the pool. One of the main bedrooms is actually a small detached cottage, with a trampoline outside that would be great for a small family. There’s also an upper terrace that’s a lovely spot to relax and chat. Villa La Luvier is near many of the sites of Canngu, while still feeling like a quiet little pocket away from the bustle. I can’t wait to come back, and I’m already planning a family trip for everyone from Scotland!

A warning about the villa’s very strict no refund policy. We’d booked a birthday weekend here with six friends, but one of the people meant to come passed away a week before the trip, so we had to cancel. We received condolences, but nothing beyond that.

A really good villa, with great facilities and a professional, dedicated staff. The food was good enough too. I’d recommend it for a Bali staycation.
