The Awan Villas

Villa 2 didn’t have the outdoor shower I’d been hoping for, but the hot water and pressure were good. I loved the open-air indoor-outdoor feel, and the frogs, lizards, geckos, and pretty little cat kept me company in the evenings. The staff put mosquito coils in the living area and bathroom around 6pm each night, and they worked well. The sofa and bed were both comfortable, the kitchen appliances were clean and worked, and I appreciated having a large wardrobe safe, slippers, and robes. The pool was huge, enough for six or seven lengths, and the towels smelled beautiful. There were TVs in both the outdoor living space and bedroom, with apps on the smart TV. I’d recommend The Awan Villas, even as a fussy traveller. Before I arrived, the staff were already helpful over WhatsApp. They sent menus so I could pre-book meals and checked when it suited me to have the villa cleaned. Thank you to all of them! The villa is right on the main road, with a big driveway for pickups and drop-offs, and Grab drivers found it easily. Inside, it was peaceful and private. Mini marts are a few minutes away, and the beach is a leisurely 15-minute walk. I was there for Nyepi (Silent Day), and staff explained what to do and gave me a torch to keep the light down that evening. The main junction, where I watched the Ogoh Ogoh parades, was a 20-minute walk away. It was an absolutely brilliant experience! The pool had several leaves at the bottom when I arrived, and about three times as many by the end of my 4-day stay. A net or a pool clean would have been a nice touch. The ashtray also had ash in it when I arrived, which was a bit off-putting as a non-smoker. Even so, I’ve already recommended the place to friends and family, and I can’t wait to return.
