Villa Tirtadari

The outdoor areas were a real highlight for us. The carefully kept gardens, tall trees and greenery make it peaceful and refreshing, whether you're having coffee on the patio in the morning or taking an evening walk. Inside, the villa is comfortable and stylish, with thoughtful design that fits the greenery around it. The rooms are spacious, well equipped and have beautiful landscape views. Everything was very clean, and the care in the details shows.

We had a sumptuous buffet dinner cooked by the villa staff, but also enjoyed simply staying in and ordering delivery amid the lovely surroundings. The assistants look after the property, a seven-room villa with a lap pool and plenty of greenery. The price was reasonable, and I felt like a wealthy man there.

The staff were excellent and flexible, and they cooked us a very good Indonesian dinner on our last night. The pool is the standout, kept in fairly good shape despite all the trees around it. This is one of the few large villas in Changgu that can take more than 18 people, and it works well for groups of 14 or more. The property is 12 years old and shows its age in places. The rooms are adequate, but watch out for the hardwood bed frames because they can bruise you. The first owner was Norwegian and liked cooking, so there's a big open-plan kitchen and a separate BBQ. It isn't great for kids, since the staircases have no railings. There are also plenty of natural insects and small animals roaming around. If the current Indonesian owner were willing to redo the place, it could be excellent.

A huge, impressive villa with simple but nice, very spacious rooms, a great pool and a sound system. The service was good, and I'd recommend it for large groups, around 12-20 people. Restaurants and bars aren't too far, though you need to hire a car, and there's an alfamart nearby. Breakfast and the BBQ service were a bit disappointing. The water also wasn't working properly during the day.
