Bawah Reserve

That stretch by the jetty was especially good for snorkeling. We saw all sorts of reef fish, plus a turtle, blacktip sharks, nudibranchs, marine flatworms, and a little school of bumphead parrotfish. Some outings turned up more than others, but every snorkel was different. My husband and I spent seven days at Bawah in an overwater bungalow at the end of the boardwalk, down by the Boathouse. The resort looks stunning when the sun is out, with clear water and white sand that really do look picture-perfect. We enjoyed the water activities, along with the food and spa treatments during our stay.

Night paddle boarding was such a lovely surprise, really calm and romantic. The lights on the water with all those stars above made it feel special. We had the best honeymoon here. The weather was perfect, and the island and scenery were beautiful. Every staff member was welcoming, friendly, and so nice to us. We loved every meal from breakfast through dinner. We’re both serious food lovers and pretty picky, so enjoying everything was rare for us. I can’t say enough good things about the place. We’ll definitely come back!

We stayed in a two-bedroom infinity pool villa with our family of four, including our two adult kids, and loved it. The setting is world class, and the service was just as impressive. We were there in the days before Christmas and over the holiday itself. Chef Joaquin and his staff made the food a real highlight. It was easily the best all-inclusive experience we’ve had. Calling it all-inclusive almost feels like it does the quality of the food a disservice.

We even saw 84 baby green turtles hatch and head out into the big blue. Without Bawah’s work to protect them, those little ones wouldn’t have the same fighting chance. Learning about the island’s marine conservation, recycling, renewable energy, permaculture, and meaningful support for local communities was inspiring too. Getting to Bawah from Singapore was seamless. A guide helped us through immigration and straight onto the sea plane, with no hassle. From the moment we stepped onto the island, the staff made us feel cared for. They were so friendly and attentive, and the food was sensational. There was plenty to do, from scuba diving, kayaking, sunset boat tours, hiking, tennis, and craft making to the daily spa with its sauna and steam room. The massages, facials, and body scrubs were divine. The whole trip felt magical, and the island is stunning, with everything thought through so beautifully. Even the local crafts in the shop were gorgeous and really well made. I honestly can’t think of a bad thing to say. Highly recommend.
