Bring food and drinks before you arrive, since the place is far from Indomaret, food stalls, and shops. The road is steep, scary, and muddy in rainy weather, so follow the maps carefully. On the way back, the route can send you through a steeper road and the middle of the forest. If you're riding pillion and it's your first visit, I'd avoid driving a car if you don't want scratches. For a motorbike with a passenger, I'd recommend at least 150cc so it can manage the climb. I went on a 125cc bike with a travel bag full of clothes, and on the steep uphill way back it couldn't carry my wife and the bag. She had to walk while I waited for people nearby to help get her up. The villa itself is nice and in a new building, and the view matched what I expected. I happened to get a room without a TV, although the other rooms have one. Be careful with the roads going up and down, especially if you're there for the first time.

It's a comfortable, cool place, and the owner is really kind. Five stars from me.

Batur Kencana Villa was reasonably priced, and I was happy with what I got for the money. The room was simple, but comfortable enough. The owner's family gave me a warm welcome, and I was touched when the owner's children showed me where to park my bicycle. After spending a week traveling around Bali, I was tired of the heat in Kuta Beach, so I headed to Kintamani. I rented a motorbike, stopped for lunch in Ubud, and arrived in the evening. Kintamani was cool and comfortable, just as I'd hoped. I took an early walk through the village, then rested in my room and enjoyed the view from bed. There aren't any restaurants nearby, so plan your meals ahead.
