The Lava Bali Villa and Hot Spring

The hot spring pool was a highlight, so soothing and wonderful, and our room was lovely, well equipped, with hot water and air conditioning. Breakfast was simple, with a few options, but very good. We arrived at the last minute after a problem with our original accommodation. The team quickly arranged a taxi and looked after us kindly the whole time. We had booked our Mount Batur trek elsewhere, but they have an excellent guide on the team, so I can recommend them for that too. The flies weren’t much of a problem during our visit, despite the location being beyond the team’s control. We could enjoy breakfast, the terrace, and the pool, and there were hardly any in the evening. Thanks for saving our stay in Kintamani. We’ll definitely be back!

There are two lovely cats in the garden, and one is especially sociable and likes people. That added a fun little touch to the stay. The open air hot spring was a great place to soak and unwind after a busy day. Being at the foot of Mount Batur does mean there are quite a few flies during the day, apparently because of local farming and fertilizing. That seems to come from the surroundings rather than the hotel, and the flies naturally go away in the evening.

There are lots of shops and restaurants nearby, and we could start our trek right from the hotel. The staff were friendly and sociable, and helped with what we needed. They’ll also bring breakfast to your room if you ask, and it was good. The pool and hot spring are amazing. We were very happy with our stay. The one downside was the flies everywhere, which made it hard to sit outside. It seemed just as bad elsewhere, though, so I don’t blame the hotel.

Bagia, Ayu, and Aditya, the driver recommended by the villa, took such good care of us and were incredibly helpful. Bagia arranged a driver and a sunrise Jeep trip up Mt Batur. Thanks so much, Bagia, for all the effort. We really enjoyed staying at The Lava Bali Villa and Hot Spring. The in-house hot spring pool was lovely at night, with gorgeous nearby mountain views and natural warm water. Our room was simple, cosy, clean, and great value.
