Hibiscus Cottages

We left after just one night because we didn't want our holiday spoiled. We had booked three nights through Agoda, and it was represented as 4 star, but felt more like a 2 star place for backpackers. Getting to the room means taking luggage 400 meters from the road, so think twice if you're bringing bags. The rooms were terrible. Everything seemed at least 30 years old, from the pillows and bed to the mattress. The curtains were see through and falling apart. It wasn't clean or suitable for children, with no baby coat or kids bed. There was nothing to do at the cottages, and our view was of neighbors balconies.

We had a great family stay in one of the cottages for three days. The breakfast area had a fantastic view, and the Balinese dishes were wonderful. Ubud Palace is close enough to reach on foot. Our room was amazing and had all the amenities we needed, and the friendly staff and manager helped us at every step.

The room was clean, had A/C, and was made up every day. I only avoided one pillow because it had a strange smell. The owner was nice, and check-in was easy, even though he was briefly away when I arrived to run an errand. The place has original Balinese architecture and is close to the busy parts of town. A good choice if you want somewhere with an authentic Balinese feel.

So glad I found this cute place. It's fairly central in Ubud, but tucked away enough to be really peaceful and quiet at night. The owner and staff were so friendly and attentive. Everything felt perfect, and after a couple of nights I already wished I could stay longer!
