The Icon Hotel

The staff seemed inexperienced and only gave information when asked. We also didn’t receive the breakfast included in our reservation: the restaurant had run out of food by 8:30 am. We waited nearly 30 minutes while they said it was still being prepared, but it never came, so we left. The next day we ate outside to avoid the same problem. When we asked reception about compensation, they only apologized and offered no solution. Cleanliness was poor, with spider webs visible in many places. The room was dark, and it wasn’t cleaned daily unless we asked. Unfortunately, it was an unpleasant stay.

They don’t do daily room cleaning unless you request it. My low rating is mainly about safety: the mirror at the parking exit doesn’t actually make it safer for guests. A hotel that doesn’t put guest safety first can’t get a high score from me.

Leaving the parking lot for the road is really risky. The exit is right around a bend on an uphill stretch, so cars coming up have a blind spot and could hit a car pulling out. At check-in they also asked for an IDR 100K deposit, returned at checkout. The price is good, but some basics were missing. There were spots on the bed cover, and nowhere in the shower booth 🚿 to put anything. Breakfast was empty at 08:30 despite the three-hour breakfast period, and was barely replenished. The fried noodles were good, though. The restaurant’s view from the top helped make up for those smaller hassles. There’s also a pool and gym.

It was so frustrating that I cut short my planned 5 night stay and moved out. They talk about quality but fell badly short of what they promised. The hotel is far from most places, and getting a taxi there is difficult. At the restaurant, juices were always “sold out” moments after opening, which seemed like an excuse for not stocking them. I was the first person at breakfast and still couldn’t get eggs because they said they were “sold out.” Keep away.
