Naka Hotel Kupang

The staff are kind and quick to answer questions, and the hotel is only a five-minute walk from a modern mall. Families can request an extra bed for an added charge. Rooms are large, with a nice bathroom and big shower, and there’s a souvenir shop with a good collection. They also have a decent food and drink menu. For a larger garden party, there’s a spacious garden and a small Capella for wedding ceremonies.

The location is convenient, close to Kupang’s newest shopping mall, and the room itself was good. But the sheets were dirty and looked as if they hadn’t been changed in years. I stayed 3 days and the towels weren’t changed either. The food was poor: breakfast was cold, and the porridge was far too salty. They need a new chef.

We were so disappointed that we moved to another hotel at a similar price for the rest of our time in Kupang. We’d booked Naka Hotel for a weekend with our 3 kids because it had a pool, but when we went at 10:30am on Saturday, we were told it would close at 12pm for a private function that evening. Closing the pool for in-house guests so early on a Saturday made no sense to us. That was one of several letdowns during our 3-night stay, from check-in through after checkout. Most service staff were kind, but management’s policies and procedures seemed poor, and staff didn’t seem trained in customer service. The hotel has potential, but the experience was badly handled. We strongly recommend avoiding Naka Hotel.

The room is good, with free Wi-Fi, breakfast, air conditioning, and the usual things you need in a hotel. Mosquitoes are the big problem, buzzing around both the rooms and hallways. Bring repellent and it’s a great place to stay.
