The setting among lush greenery felt peaceful and relaxing, a lovely place to get away from the busy city below. The staff were always friendly and helpful. Our bedrooms were quite sensitive to noise, though, and since we stayed during Ramadan, earplugs were essential for a good night's sleep. Getting there was a challenge: the road is steep and bumpy, and although we're experienced scooter riders, I wouldn't say it's suitable for beginners. I was surprised the hotel description didn’t mention that. A shuttle into town and back is available for an extra fee. There are several free-roaming dogs from the local community around the area. They’re gentle, calm, and cautious with people, but don’t always get enough to eat and could use some care. If you can, bring them a little food and attention. They’ll appreciate it in their quiet way 🙏🏼.

The ride into Kuta took only about five minutes by scooter, and the staff had one arranged and ready for us. They also set up a driver to collect us from the fast ferry harbour in bangsal. We stayed in Villa Paula, which was spotless, with a really comfortable bed and a calm, relaxed feel. Everyone was welcoming and keen to help, and the owner was a legend who made sure we were settled. A spectacular stay at kalma bamboo eco lodge. We’ll definitely be back 🤙🏻

That plunge pool facing the jungle, with all the sounds and colours around it, was fascinating. The lodge is beautifully designed, and the affiliated restaurants, driver Grow, and wellness practitioners were all high quality. Riska, Oskar, Jakek and the rest of the team made the whole stay feel magical with how kind, helpful and attentive they were. We had nothing but good things to say about Kalma, and really didn’t want to leave.

Kalma felt like such a peaceful escape from noisy Kuta, and I loved the thoughtful design and private pool. The staff were lovely and paid close attention to everything. Since the lodge sits up a hill on a muddy road, which I wasn’t comfortable riding a scooter on, they picked me up in town. They can also arrange a driver from the airport or port. I hope I get to come back and enjoy this magical place again.

We had an unforgettable honeymoon stay at Kalma Bamboo Lombok. Waking up to the jungle view was a highlight, and the bamboo villa was both beautiful and very comfortable. The team were attentive, and handling everything through WhatsApp made it easy. We could even have food delivered from some of the trendiest restaurants in Kuta right to the villa, which was a big plus. A couple of things to know: roosters get going early, so light sleepers might want earplugs. The access road can be a bit of an adventure, and after rain we’d recommend taking a taxi instead of riding a scooter. Still, we found the place magical, unique and peaceful, and highly recommend it.
