The breakfast cook makes perfect omelettes, and the pool is spotless thanks to the person who looks after it. The location is great too. Everyone on staff was wonderful, and the lovely local family made the whole experience so good.

The ladies working here really make the stay. They’re lovely, cheerful, and happy to chat, and they make a good breakfast. Sawe Homestay is right in the centre of Kuta Lombok, which was perfect. I booked a fan room and it worked fine for me, though I can see how some people would prefer the AC room. There’s no hot shower, but in Kuta’s heat I didn’t need one.

The rooms are basic, but fair for the price, 126k for one night for two people. It’s about a 15-minute walk to the beach, and the family are very nice. Breakfast was good, with pancakes or an omelette and coffee or tea.

It was very cheap, but only quiet was what I wanted. I need a dark room, cold AC, hot water, and a quiet place. The air conditioning barely worked, so I spent the night sweating. I also woke up with lots of bites on both arms, probably bed bugs.
