Segara Anak Hotel

We loved this place and really miss it. We ended up extending twice, and there wasn't a thing we found fault with. The staff were caring and so helpful, everything was impeccably clean, and the pool was just right for families with young kids. Shops and restaurants are nearby. Thanks for such an amazing stay!

I spent three nights here this week. The garden and pool are lovely, quiet, and peaceful, and I had the pool to myself both afternoons. Breakfast had a good range, with a fruit buffet on some days. My room worked fine, though it looked plainer than the website photos. Compared with nearby lodges, the price was fair. The beach is just across the road, and there are convenience stores, restaurants, and bars on the same street. Getting around was difficult for me because I don't ride a motorbike or scooter. Grab and Gojek drivers can't pick up passengers on Kuta Beach's beachfront road because guard stations at both entrances stop them. They can drop off people coming from the airport or elsewhere, but pickups aren't allowed, so I was stuck relying on expensive taxis. I booked a snorkeling trip at Gili Trawangan but ended up forfeiting it because the shuttle bus takes 2-2.5 hours each way to Bangsal Port. The hotel quoted 250k for a transfer company, while signs along the street showed 170k.

The rooms were fine, and the staff were very nice. Wayan deserves a mention for making our trip much more enjoyable. But my partner and I both started feeling unwell during our stay. I heard the man in the next room being sick too, and I suspect the ice, since they make it with tap water. Management should deal with this as soon as possible.

I didn't stay at the hotel, thankfully. If the restaurant is anything to go by, I would've wished I was dead. The atmosphere was awful, and the food and prices were among the worst I've encountered in Indonesia. The beef burger was green and barely had any cheese. They advertise a huge plate of calamari, but what arrived was stone cold, wet, and unbreaded. I felt bad for the octopus that died for that abomination. I can't recommend a worse place.
