Tata Surf Hostel

A very good place to stay with friends. The location is convenient for reaching the good tourist spots around Kuta Lombok.

I went there in person to explain that I needed to leave Lombok, and they said they'd cancel my booking. It was still early in the day and I'd only just made the reservation, so I thought it wouldn't be too much trouble. After that, they ignored all my messages and never canceled it, so I didn't get my money back. I also saw the outside of the place, which looked unfinished and pretty dirty.

It's an okay hostel for the price if you only need somewhere to sleep, but don't expect luxury or much safety. Our bike helmet was stolen, and when I asked the boss to check the security cameras, he refused and said it was “too complicated.” That isn't true. The showers only have cold water, and construction starts at 8am. After having such a simple request turned down, I can't recommend the place.

We meant to stay for 3 nights and ended up adding another 7 because we liked it so much. The atmosphere is friendly, but nobody pressures you to socialize, and people were respectful about noise and personal space. The rooms are basic, though very clean and comfortable enough to feel at home. Hery and the team were lovely and helped with whatever we needed, including laundry and scooter rentals. We'd happily come back if we were in Kuta again.
