Villa at Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel

The breakfast was a real highlight. There was an impressive choice, from Indonesian dishes like Nasi Goreng to Western food, fresh pastries, and an egg station, and everything tasted fresh and high-quality. Eating with the ocean breeze was a lovely way to start the day. We left full and happy, and thank the whole team for making our stay so special. We can’t wait to return to Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel. From check-in, the staff made us feel like family. Our room was clean, roomy, and peaceful after exploring Kuta, and the tropical gardens and nearby beach made walking around the resort feel special. It was a magical stay that blended traditional Balinese charm with modern comfort.

Discovery hotel is right in central Kuta next to Discovery Mall, with shops, restaurants, and Waterbom park within walking distance. The service was quick and efficient, and whenever we called with a request, they helped straight away. Breakfast had a good mix of Western choices like bacon, eggs, and bread, along with Indian and Indonesian food and desserts. The daily kids’ activities were nice, and our children joined something every day. The rooms feel dated and need an upgrade, especially the old, slippery bathrooms. Evening noise was a major problem and wasn’t clearly mentioned before booking. Someone sang by the pool and downstairs restaurant every night from 7 to 10pm, and it was very loud. After days out doing activities, we wanted peace and quiet, but didn’t get it during our three-night stay. The balcony glass door didn’t close properly, so we had several geckos in the room. The air conditioning in the main living area wasn’t cooling properly either. Maintenance came within minutes and did their best, but it still didn’t work as it should. The pools were also very deep, from 1.8 to 2 metres in the main one. Our kids wanted somewhere they could stand, but the only kids’ or toddler pool was just 0.4 metres deep, too shallow for them.

We booked just one night before check-in, as a last-minute decision based on the location, kids’ facilities, and large pool. We weren’t expecting much, but it turned out better than we thought. The rooms may not be the trendiest, but they were very clean and everything worked. The pool area was the highlight for the kids, and there were lots of family activities. The pizza we ordered by the pool was delicious, and I enjoyed a relaxing 90-minute massage at the spa. It was a warm, pleasant stay.

This is a great hotel for a family getaway. We started the day with a peaceful run along the beach, then had a wonderful breakfast. At check-in yesterday, Stella welcomed us with a lovely smile and kind hospitality, which put us at ease and made us happy. The breakfast service this morning was excellent too.
